Arkan Building Materials Company PJSC (Arkan) is a United Arab Emirates-based public joint stock company, whose principal activities include incorporation, operation, trade and investment in industrial projects and commercial companies, which are engaged in the building materials sector. The Company operates, along with its subsidiaries, in five business segments: the Cement factory segment includes the production and sale of cement; the Blocks Factories segment includes the production and distribution of blocks; the Poly-Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipes Factory segment includes the production and sale of PVC pipes; the Glass reinforced Polyester (GRP) Pipes Factory segment includes the production and sale of GRP pipes, and the Bags Factory segment produces and markets paper bags. As of December 31, 2011, the Company’s subsidiaries included wholly owned Emirates Blocks Factory, Emirates Cement Factory and Anabeeb Pipes Manufacturing Factories, and 70%-owned Arkan Mining and Transportation.
