United Bankshares, Inc. is a financial holding company. The Company operates through its banking subsidiary, United Bank (the Bank). United Bank offers a range of commercial and retail banking services and products. It also owns nonbank subsidiaries which engage in other community banking services, such as asset management, real property title insurance, financial planning, mortgage banking, and brokerage services. Its loan portfolio comprises of commercial, real estate and consumer loans including credit card and home equity loans. The Bank’s core deposits include certain demand deposits, savings and negotiable order of withdrawal (NOW) accounts. It also offers individual retirement accounts, safe deposit boxes, wire transfers and other standard banking products and services. The Bank operates across West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
