Why is National Fertilizer Ltd falling/rising?

14-Jun-2026

As of 14-Jun, National Fertilizer Ltd's stock price is rising to Rs 75.11, driven by positive financial results and sector performance. However, the stock has a negative year-to-date return of -18.05% and declining investor participation, suggesting a cautious long-term outlook.

As of 14-Jun, National Fertilizer Ltd's stock price is rising, currently at Rs 75.11, with a change of 1.24 (1.68%) upwards. This increase can be attributed to a few key factors. Firstly, the stock has shown a slight positive performance over the past week, gaining 1.72%, which is comparable to the Sensex's increase of 1.73%. Additionally, the fertilizer sector as a whole has gained by 2.1%, indicating a favorable market environment for the industry.

Moreover, the company reported positive financial results for the nine months ending March 26, with net sales growing by 22.29% to Rs 17,980.01 crore and achieving the highest quarterly operating profit margin at 7.38%. These results suggest that the company is performing well operationally, which can boost investor confidence.

However, it is important to note that despite the recent rise, the stock has a negative year-to-date return of -18.05% and has underperformed the BSE500 over the last year and three years. Additionally, there has been a significant drop in investor participation, with delivery volume falling by 42.2% against the five-day average. This decline in participation could indicate a lack of confidence among investors, which may counterbalance the positive short-term price movement.

In summary, while National Fertilizer Ltd's stock is currently rising due to positive operational results and sector performance, the overall long-term outlook remains cautious due to previous underperformance and declining investor participation.

Are National Fertilizer Ltd latest results good or bad?

29-May-2026

National Fertilizer Ltd's latest results show a mixed performance, with a 12.43% increase in net profit but a concerning 36.72% decline in net sales quarter-on-quarter. While profit growth and improved margins are positive, ongoing challenges like high leverage and weak capital efficiency suggest caution for investors.

National Fertilizer Ltd's latest results present a mixed picture. On one hand, the company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹151.54 crores for Q4 FY26, which is a 12.43% increase year-on-year and a recovery from previous losses earlier in the fiscal year. Additionally, the operating margin improved to 7.38%, the highest in recent quarters, indicating better cost management.

However, the company's net sales saw a significant decline of 36.72% quarter-on-quarter, dropping to ₹4,347.19 crores, and a slight decrease of 2.45% year-on-year. This sharp revenue contraction raises concerns about the sustainability of the profitability improvements. Furthermore, the company has underperformed compared to its sector peers, with a negative return of 22.84% over the past year, while the sector itself declined by 11.84%.

The overall outlook is cautious due to structural challenges, including high leverage and weak capital efficiency, as indicated by a return on equity of just 5.85%. The company's dependence on government subsidies and the volatility of raw material costs further complicate its financial stability.

In summary, while there are some positive indicators such as profit growth and improved margins, the significant drop in sales and ongoing operational challenges suggest that the results are not entirely favorable. Investors should be wary of the underlying issues despite the recent profit recovery.
