Are Orient Beverages latest results good or bad?

14-Aug-2025

Orient Beverages' latest results show strong sales growth with net sales at Rs 46.87 crore, but a concerning 65.15% decline in profit after tax to Rs 1.76 crore raises red flags about profitability and reliance on non-operating income. Analysts have rated the stock as a 'Strong Sell,' indicating caution about its future performance.

Orient Beverages' latest results present a mixed picture. On one hand, the company has achieved its highest net sales in the last five quarters, reaching Rs 46.87 crore, which reflects a positive trend in sales growth. Additionally, the improvement in the debt-equity ratio to 3.63 times indicates a healthier balance sheet with reduced borrowing relative to equity.

However, the profitability aspect raises concerns. The profit after tax (PAT) has significantly declined by 65.15% year on year, standing at Rs 1.76 crore. This sharp drop in profitability is troubling, especially since non-operating income constitutes a substantial part of the profit before tax, suggesting that the company may be overly reliant on non-business activities for its earnings.

Furthermore, the stock has been rated as a 'Strong Sell' by analysts, indicating caution regarding its future performance. Overall, while there are some positive sales trends, the significant decline in profitability and reliance on non-operating income suggest that the results are not entirely favorable.
