Why is Par Drugs & Chemicals Ltd falling/rising?

20-Jun-2026

As of 19-Jun, the stock price of Par Drugs & Chemicals Ltd is declining due to significant weaknesses in financial performance, including a 26.3% drop in net sales and a 75.6% decrease in profit after tax. This underperformance, coupled with reduced investor interest, raises concerns about the company's long-term growth prospects.

As of 19-Jun, the stock price of Par Drugs & Chemicals Ltd is falling, currently at 94.60, reflecting a change of -1.8 (-1.87%). This decline can be attributed to several factors highlighted in the source data.

Firstly, the company's recent financial performance shows significant weaknesses, with net sales for the latest quarter falling by 26.3% compared to the previous four-quarter average. Additionally, the profit after tax (PAT) has decreased dramatically by 75.6% in the same comparison, indicating a troubling trend in profitability. The lowest recorded PBDIT at Rs 1.44 crore further emphasizes the company's struggles.

Moreover, the stock has consistently underperformed against benchmarks, generating a return of -1.03% over the past year and showing a substantial decline of 53.39% over the last three years compared to the Sensex, which has increased by 28.03% during that period. This consistent underperformance raises concerns among investors about the company's long-term growth prospects.

Investor participation has also declined, with delivery volume falling by 57.18% against the five-day average, suggesting reduced interest in trading the stock. Although the company is net-debt free and has a reasonable valuation with a return on equity (ROE) of 11.7, these positive aspects are overshadowed by the poor growth in net sales and operating profit over the last five years, which have grown at rates of only 8.40% and 0.89%, respectively.

In summary, the combination of declining sales and profits, consistent underperformance against benchmarks, and falling investor participation are key reasons for the current decline in the stock price of Par Drugs & Chemicals Ltd.
