As of 10-Aug, South India Paper Mills Ltd's stock price is rising, currently at Rs 104.75, reflecting an increase of Rs 2.35 or 2.29%. This upward movement follows a trend reversal after three consecutive days of decline. Today, the stock outperformed its sector by 2.74%, indicating a positive shift in performance. Additionally, the stock reached an intraday high of Rs 107.9, which represents a 5.37% increase at its peak for the day.

Despite the recent rise, it's important to note that the stock has shown mixed performance over various periods. Over the past week, it has decreased slightly by 0.14%, while it has gained 0.62% over the past month. Year-to-date, the stock has performed significantly better than the benchmark, with a gain of 17.04% compared to the Sensex's decline of 7.84%. Are South India Paper Mills Ltd latest results good or bad?

31-Jul-2026

South India Paper Mills Ltd's latest Q1 FY27 results show a strong net profit increase of 408.16% year-on-year and improved operating margins, but concerns remain due to low long-term ROCE and declining promoter holdings, indicating potential sustainability issues. Investors should exercise caution given these mixed signals.

South India Paper Mills Ltd's latest results for Q1 FY27 present a mixed picture. On one hand, the company reported a net profit of ₹4.98 crores, which is a remarkable 408.16% increase year-on-year. This indicates a strong recovery from previous years of losses. Additionally, the operating margin improved to 12.95%, marking a significant expansion from prior periods.

However, while these quarterly results show impressive growth and operational improvements, there are underlying concerns. The company's long-term return on capital employed (ROCE) remains low at an average of just 3.55%, which raises questions about its fundamental strength and ability to generate sustainable returns. The recent profitability is encouraging, but it follows three consecutive years of losses, making it essential for investors to be cautious.

Moreover, the decline in promoter holding from 31.28% to 26.91% over the past year may signal a lack of confidence in the sustainability of this turnaround. Institutional interest is also minimal, with negligible holdings from foreign and domestic institutional investors.

In summary, while the latest results show significant improvements and a return to profitability, the long-term outlook remains uncertain due to historical performance issues and declining promoter confidence. Investors should weigh these factors carefully before making any decisions.
